Hinduism has a lot to say about creating and using wealth. One small bit from Sage Narada (please realize that this man was so great that he could meet any God any time without any Tapas, don’t go by the amazingly stupid view of him being a fight initiator).

Narada says:

Money is very good and WEALTH must be accumulated. It should be used for creating common good, for helping good causes, helping good people, FOR GROWING IT (he says it should not be allowed to rot), for building assets, AND FOR YOUR OWN ‘BHOG’. Bhog means for your own enjoyment.

Other parts of Hinduism (and Islamic banking) come down on giving money on interest – but that is a longer story.

Having wealth means earning well, paying tax, saving well, investing the savings, growing wealth and creating common good. If that does not happen, its a waste. If your parents, children, siblings and others you LOVE cannot use your wealth when they need it, its a waste. Complete waste.

Here, read about some people who had wealth but no clue on how to use it…It is an American story, but I do not know of Indian stories..hence the link…

  1. Yes Narada can meet any body without tapa or appointment. He is son of Brahma and Grandson of Vishnu. Goes to show that even among Gods ‘pata hai mera baap kaun hai?’ helps. 🙂
