This is 31st December, 2019, and I am doing a review of the year gone by, yes, 2019.

What gave me happiness: meeting 10,000 IFA all over the country addressing them about their retirement needs. I was thrilled that they all happily responded to their own retirement plan. I was happy that they have set in motion a plan by which they will retire peacefully.

Meeting 3000 doctors all over the country and largely waking them financially, and happy that many of them did call back, sent an email, or generally did well for themselves

Addressing 1.6 million readers (including repeat) who came to my blog to read what I tease…

Well I also enjoyed my vacations, travel, etc.

Ha running about 2200 km in various states, hills and beaches…

Visiting a few temples, forests, hills, beaches,….well too many to be named..but Corbett and the beaches of Bhubaneshwar stand out…ok…Puri…to be more precise.

My trip to Arunachal Pradesh, Shillong and Khaziranga were really awesome…

I wish I had lost more weight, but the fact that my best HM happened under 2 hours in 2019 was good enough I guess.

And how can I forget to thank you for buying the second edition of ‘Retire Rich: Invest Rs. 40 a day’ which was released in Jan of 2019? Thanks a ton. I knew you would buy it in large numbers, but the numbers which I have seen/got stunned me. Thanks. You inspire me to publish more – writing is something which I anyway do on my blog…and I loved the fact that every year more than a Million (nudging 2 million ?) people read. This is far greater than the number of people reading my books. And I also thank the viewers of various channels on which I appear. Obviously I address far more people in TV shows than I can while address physical lectures. Also thank all those people who heard me on radio, and watched me on YouTube…my God the list is endless….

I thank my friends, relatives, classmates, students, readers, ….to have made it a great success…like they have been doing for the past so many years.

OOps what made money?

My trading portfolio did well as usual – thanks to my broker who does it. I just endorse it.

My investment portfolio – which has been built over a long time….

My mutual fund portfolio – which is insignificant but does well BECAUSE I monitor the fund manager movement, not the fund portfolio performance….

well I got decent returns…and I thank all the Investment forums of which I am a part…but you may not know I am a Read Only Member in most of such forums. I think I know to keep my mouth shut when people far better than me are speaking!!

Happy new year, let’s welcome 2020….

well go and do your own review. See what will make you money, and what will bring you happiness and contentment. Do the review in your head, and you will be able to make a plan for 2019.

  1. Dec 31 2019 – the year gave excellent buying opportunities which I bought into even though I was scared and uncomfortable!

  2. Hello Subra SIr, I’m new to your blog and mutual funds and I’ve started to undestand a bit of MF especially the open ended schemes and what is good to whom. Can you give us pros and cons of close ended schemes vs open ended schemes. Like what suits which category of investors. I tried finding out online but most of them give superficial definitions. I like the way you explain threadbare with zero bullshiting. Thank you very much in advance.
P.S: Or if you already done a post, please give me a link.
