The Indian constitution may as well have started like this! What a sense of “entitlement” I see among my friends. I find it stunning and REPULSIVE. SICKENING.

We should be happy that out Prime Minister (it does not matter that you are a leftist sickular) – this is the PM we voted for collectively, so OUR PM Narendra Modi – is a hard working no nonsense PM who works hard and is willing to make mistakes.

When we the priviledged ask for concessions it feels shameful. I am sure NaMo would have many many many things to attend to now. Lets look at some of them – terror in Kashmir, terror in the East – Bengal/ Bangladesh border, China, food riots – the small laborer who walked 1200 km to reach home, CoVid-19 deaths, world reaction to Covid19, – is the list not long?

Do you honestly want him to worry about LTCG removal or STT abolishing? Honestly guys, have a heart. This must be his priority NO. 36, if not 72.

What should SENIOR people like me be doing in times of Covid-19 crisis:

a. tell people that there is enough in the world for everybody’s need, but not for everyone’s greed

b. tell people that it is perfectly all right to grow slowly, there is no need to fly

c. equity investments are easy to build if you are lucky NOT TO INTERRUPT the compounding.

d. Equity is a lot of luck and a lot of pluck – where I am using pluck to mean courage and not just plucking the weeds from your portfolio.

e. accept that portfolio diversification by market cap is a MARKETING FRAUD

f. accept that being born in a educated, rich family, is sheer luck

g. success has destroyed far far more people than FAILURE

h. you may be jealous of many  people, but remember you are in the top 1% of the country, if not top 1% of the world

i. I find that entrepreneurs are far more confident of handling adversity than the people who are in service – so lend confidence to those who are scared of Covid-19.

j.help your older neighbors – run chores for them, if needed

k. remember the word DAYENU? Go and google it. If it leads to a page on Subramoney.com, do read it. Even otherwise learn about this word. It is surely worth it.

Now can we stop cribbing and help those who really need help?…whom?

  1. the 92 year old who lives with a 87 year old bed-ridden wife – they have 3 servants and cannot live without them. One has to attend to her (he can’t hear), but otherwise he is fit!
  2. The patients of diseases like diabetes and blood pressure who are running out of medicines.
  3. the domestic servant who earns Rs. 19k a month but is not sure how many of them will pay in full
  4. the helper of the veggie shop owner – the 14 year old kid who wants work, food, money, and wants to be with his parents in UP. Obviously homesick.
  5. the stray dogs on the road who are not getting any food or WATER. Not sure how many will die of hunger (what can be worse than this?)
  6. The cancer patient who needs platelets – but donors can’t reach the hospital

the list is endless.

Now you priviledged idiot don’t crib that you are not getting all the vegetables that you want at the price at which you want.

Don’t crib that your gas dealer is NOT DELIVERING the gas to your doorstep. His employee who stays in Dombivili and works in Nerul JUST CAN’T COME TO THE SHOP. So just drive down and pick up the cylinder.

Such a post can never be complete…

  1. Sir, emotions running high in above post. Nobody is asking NaMo to spend his personal energies to his worry No.72 (not even 36), but his distinguished panel of ministers. NaMo is the face, so everyone uses the name – otherwise govt is an organisation whose job is to protect all its participants fairly.
These 1% (ovarian-lottery winners) are THE major contributors to economic activity by paying taxes, consumption etc and ignoring them because theirs is problem no.72 and govt can’t find answers for them isn’t acceptable.
It’d be like saying a father has 3 children but because A and B were smarter and C wasn’t, the father put all his energies on C and let A/B fend for themselves.

  2. What I find is repulsive are the consequences of this economic shutdown that no one seems to think through. The “group thinking” and “hysteric fear mongering” that has gone too far with this has already started destroying families and livelihoods of people in the bottom 50% of the economic chain in the developed world and bottom 85% of the people in economic chain in India. God Save humanity from this “group thinking”. Its more scarier than anything ever.

Some numbers to ponder. Apply your own mind to reach your own conclusions.
    # of humans in world = About 7.7 Billion
    # of days/year a healthy human is abnormal with common virus, cold, cough etc = Avg 3 days/year
So # of humans suffering from a common virus at any given point in time = 63 million/day
So total # of humans who would have suffered common virus for past 103 days = 2.16 Billion
    # of humans infected with corona thus far = 1.73M over 103 day period
Common vs Corona = 2.16 Billion vs 1.73M
    # of normal deaths per day = Around 180K
    # of deaths/day of those who have common virus, cold, cough = 3% of normal deaths or 5400/day
So # of common virus deaths for past 103 days = 556K or moving average of 5400/day
    # of corona deaths until now for past 103 days = 108K or moving average of 1048/day
    Common vs Corona = 556K vs 108K
    # of normal births per day = Around 400K
So # of babies born until now for past 103 days = 41.2 million
    # of babies died from Corona = unknown.
Even if its 1% of the 108K, as a %, new born fatalities will be 0.0002%..

Anyone who understands math and statistics can realize from the above numbers that the current situation is not a pandemic, but an “overblown hysteric fear mongering” and a dangerous “group thinking” that’s destroying livelihoods of millions around the world.

  3. Dhananjay Mokashi Abu Dhabi

I think currently we must agree that PM has to take care of the weakest link and help the underprivileged. What I see is those who are 1 % feel that they are `India. No real India is in villages and we must help them. You call it leftist, bias and all that crap…well accepted and try and donate needy one if you were enjoying all fruits of economic growth.

  4. Vish,
I wish to see your statistics numbers as on Feb 1, March 1, April 1 and May 1, 2020. I believe the difference in those number will prove why the current situation is pandemic and not a over blown one.

The calculation assumes that the person who gets the cold recovers in 3 days. I don’t think the average days per person per year is useful here. Again the infection time in COVID19 is really high which will alter your statistics if considered.
