I have been an admirer of MG – and I know he made mistakes too. Sadly in India (and perhaps the world too) there seems to be no room for a difference of opinion. Either you like (love) MG or you hate him. I am an admirer, I refuse to judge him – 72 years after his death – and I do think he could have done some things differently.

He is amazing for his views on problem solving, health,…etc. and his statements are really unique. His statements like “an eye for an eye will make the whole world blind” or “Happiness is when what you think, what you say and what you do are in Harmony”. I love the second quote and that is EXACTLY the reason why I do not do posts about trading, why I do not do training in equity brokerage houses, and do not do FnO training. I love the wealth creation process and love talking about it – and doing it. Of course it gives me happiness.

The future depends on what we do in the present – another amazing quote, but do not be in a hurry to judge it. Just too many of us have copied it and it no longer sounds original. Remember this quote is 100 years old, so it may sound stale, but is a quote that I use regularly in my Goal setting class.

MG and SV – Swami Vivekananda – are what I call “Economic Saints” of India. They were too much of an economists/ commercial to be called a “Swami” and they were too spiritual to be called an “economist”. I guess it is the greatest blend of good sensible living..and both led by example.

Here, read on …what I think are MG’s greatest quotes…and ha..this post on 30th Jan 2020 – remember it is his 72nd death anniversary.

  1. Everyone has the capacity to do good and bad. Famous people are retroactively seen through a lens of perfection – a predicament wherein any flaw is considered unacceptable. it is a shame, because they were all humans in the end.
Loved your postulation of MKG and SV as Economic Saints (will use it in a conversation sometimes).
