BEWARE of Cancellations Against MakeMyTrip (MMT) Bought Tickets
I recently tried cancelling a Ticket that I had bought through MMT. The Domestic Ticket was Priced at Rs. 6950/- and while processing cancellation online, MMT showed Airlines Cancellation Fee Rs. 6200.oo and MMT Penalty Rs. 300.oo Thus Total Refund is Rs. 450.oo (6950 – 6200 – 300).
I was Shocked and Surprised. I also Smelt a Rat since I knew that No Airlines would Charge that High a Penalty Specially when the Ticket was Purchased at a Higher Price.
I called up the Airlines to Confirm the Cancellation Charges based on the PNR that I had and they said that their Cancellation Charges are ONLY Rs. 2250.oo and it can be cancelled through MMT.
I called back MMT and Spoke to their Supervisor. They took me on a conference call with the Airlines where the Airlines again Confirmed that Only Rs. 2250.oo shall be the Cancellation Charges and the rest would be Refunded.
Now, the MMT started Apologizing and Giving Reasons for System Errors etc. and Assured that the Refund would be Rs. 4400.oo (6950 – 2250 – 300) and NOT Rs, 450.oo as the System is Faulty.

Imagine, if One is Not Vigilant enough One would have Lost all that Money assuming that the Airline Cancellation Charges were High and the MMT would have Made all the Money. Also, the MMT is Making Money by Putting the Blame on the Airlines.
I suggest Everyone to be Please Vigilant while Dealing with MMT et al.

  1. If the airline offers online ticket booking (who does’nt nowadays), I see no point in booking through sites like cleartrip, makymtrip, musaafir etc. Why add another middleman in the transaction?
I too had a nerve wracking experience when I was travelling with an international journey ticket booked on Cleartrip.com. The cleartrip ticket was mum about the baggage allowance. At the time of checking-in, I came to know that there was NO baggage allowance in my ticket. Imagine the penalty I had to pay. When I raised a complaint, I was told that I should have printed the ticket using the airline’s website which shows all the terms & conditions.
This was about the 4 years back & that was the last time I booked through any aggregator website. I just use them to compare flight prices, always taking care to clear my cookies before every search.

  2. Since, this topic has come, hass anyone faced problem getting money refunded in Amazon.in?

I had done COD and returned items. Money was not credited in my account.
I asked Amazon to give me the transaction detail. They gave me an incomplete (some part of transaction number hidden) number. I could not get the refund nither could track where money went.

It was some months back, even SBI could not help me with incomplete UTR number.

  3. Since this topic has come up, I had done COD for an Amazon.in product. Later, I returned the product. Money was not credited in my account. When I called up Amazon, they gave me an incomplete transaction number for refund, which SBI could not track.

Amazon did not help me further. My money gone down the drain.
Did anyone face this kind of problem?

  4. Once had bad experience on Hotel booking via MMT. Stopped using any of the aggregator website. Prefers to book via airline website or talking to hotel directly. Has worked out better than the bad experience hangover.

  5. Same happened with me for Yatra/Indigo.

Pretext given was that of technical error.

I feel this is an intentional mistake to siphon off the unsuspecting customer.

  6. Similar Instance happened with me but this time is was not MMT but our very own dear State Bank Of India. They deducted INR 575 from my account for an EMI which is yet to come. They reversed the charges for only those folks who are vigilant
