When you are a 9 year old girl, your mother, elder sister, bhabhi, aunt everybody told you this:

Do not talk to strangers

Do not open the door of the house if you are alone. It does not matter who it is, just do not open.

Do not talk to strangers even if it is a lady

When you get into an auto alone call up Mom and tell her the auto number in a language that he can understand

However when the girl turns 55 and tells her MOTHER (who is now 80 ):

Do not talk to strangers

Do not open the door of the house if you are alone.

Do not talk to strangers

Carry your cell phone, keep it on, and keep talking especially if you are traveling alone

the mom does NOT listen. Well in most cases she does not listen. She will not tell anybody ‘my son has the cheque book’ or ‘my daughter looks after all the charity work that I do please speak to her’ or ‘my son is a derivatives trader in Goldman Sachs he advises me, and has asked me NOT TO SIGN ANY PAPER….

Why will she not listen?

Simply because of the following:

Mom had physical and financial control over the daughter (daughter does not have)

Mom refuses to accept that her faculties have slowed down

Mom says ‘I have lived my 80 years without being cheated why should I change now?’

So what to do?

If you believe in God, pray.

If you do not believe in God, start believing. It is easier.

  1. Dr. M.Chandrashekhar

The topic is well written & is practical.Though Iam also a Senior Citizen ( SC) by definition, I find the arrogance of SCs appalling. They have a feeling they know everything & as Subra has said, discard sane advices given by the younger generation.

If you have an attitude to learn everyday, you’ll listen to any new advice.

  2. If you do not believe in God, start believing. It is easier.

Completely off topic. As an agnostic person that is the only reason I see for GOD. The belief gives mental peace however irrational the belief might be 🙂
