a few days ago I had done a lament about the quality of data available in India. It is almost impossible to do stories like:

Are most people from Mumbai investing?

Are more women investing in 2012 than 2002?

or

Are IFA assets more sticky than Bank brought assets?

or

Why are the assets under management increasing at a faster rate in Icici Pru life and not increasing at the same rate in Icici Pru Amc?

THERE IS JUST NO ONE GOOD SOURCE OF QUALITY DATA….preferably xbrl data going forward….

Here, Sucheta Dalal has done an article and grappling with un-verifiable numbers. There is no way to understand how each of these studies are co-related, if at all…!

  1. i would think,if this data was truly value-adding to the mutual fund industry, they would have a commisioned a paid survey by now.looks like,it is not a priority.so they like to lean on tax funded NSSO and others and live off that.
indicus analytics does a good job for lot of retail consumer data, including investment related surveys
