Well I have no clue whether ‘cash for clunker’ and ‘spend till you drop dead’ are all nice to say, will it really work? Can it work if you say ‘Do not save, spend?’ will it work if people are told “If you are sure about your desire, THE SECRET will let you have what you want?” Neither do I know whether you can listen to Oprah Winfrey who says ‘keep spending’.

All this sounds like a joke – continuing American thought of ‘being too big to fail’ theory. Or will Obama say “lemme make the rich a little poorer they will not mind it”. It does not work Mr. Obama. Money is a coward. It flees the moment you try to stifle it. Sure you can attack Switzerland if UBS does not give you the details. Sure you can attack UK if it does not cooperate with you. But you need to make changes, as Abe Lincoln would have told you. Here is what a guy who met Obama had to say:

So I said to him, “Barack, I know Abe Lincoln, and you ain’t Abe Lincoln.”
You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. (Indira Gandhi tried it – with Garibi Hatao, remember?)
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.(Air India used to be well run under Mr. Tata)
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.(PSUs spend far more than they earn)
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.(Minimum wages reduces employment)
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.(Hindu vs. Muslim or Patel vs. Jinnah?)
You cannot build character and courage by taking away people’s initiative and independence.(Mr. Nanda vs. witness)
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.

….Abraham Lincoln
